York is approximately an hour away by car passing through the spa town of Harrogate famous for its shopping. The Lakes District is also within easy reach taking about an hour and a quarter to reach the shores of Windermere.
Directions to MalhamBy Car: 12 miles from Skipton via Gargrave. From the A1 take the A59 through Harrogate, or from the west take junction 31 from the M6 on to the A59 Skipton. At Skipton take the A65 to Gargrave. At Gargrave take the first right to Malham. By Bus: Local buses run from Skipton via Gargrave. There are 4 return journeys running from Skipton bus and railway stations at the weekend, less through the week. One runs from Leeds and Braford, see www.dalesbus.org for up to date timetables. By Train: The nearest train station is Gargrave which is 7 miles away. More frequent trains run from Skipton about 12 miles away. Trains run from York, Leeds and Scarborough via Skipton and Gargrave.
